Hey there, I'm A.J. Orr. I wanted to share with you the story of Evening Light Productions.
For as long as I can remember, I've always loved movies, acting, and being behind the camera. I performed in stage plays throughout my time in school, and I remember making little home movies with my siblings and close friends. I began operating camera for live services at Gateway Church when I was 12. It's crazy to think back to that time having no idea I was going to fall in love with video.
In 2013, I was cast the role of Detective Lestrade in a stage play of Sherlock Holmes. Going into auditions, I had my heart set on Sherlock or Watson, but wasn't the right fit for the either characters. So, I performed to the best of my abilities as Lestrade.
I don't know how I got this crazy idea, but one day I said to myself, "If I'm not playing Sherlock, I'm going to recreate him." So I sat down and wrote the first draft of a 55-page short film simply titled, HOLMES. That's where it all began.
I put together the cast and crew and 6 months later, we filmed it. Two months later, it was ready for (a very private) release. And throughout the whole experience, I loved every minute of it.
The concept of Evening Light Productions began in 2014 with that film. That was the first project attached to the ELP name. From there, it was YouTube shorts made with my buddies at school. As soon as we all let out of class, I'd grab the camera, and we'd just shoot something. I loved it. I couldn't wait to get out of class to make a new video.
I officially launched Evening Light Productions as a professional service provider in early 2015, and have been building ever since. My goal with this company is to change the media industry for God's glory. As I build this company, I notice it's most often difficult for people to find the right service without having to spend an arm-and-a-leg to pay for it, and that's where we come in.
To Capture Life At Its Most Vulnerable; To Cherish What Matters Most. Soli Deo Gloria.
Those are the words I've chosen to guide ELP's operations for the last three years, and hope that it'll remain that way for the next three generations.
